In Winter - February 2005 Demo

In Winter immediately caught my attention last year with one of their first website demos, “June”. With a dark and brooding sound, I was anxious to hear more. So when In Winter offered to grace their fans with their radio demo for a few bucks, I immediately jumped on the deal.

In Winter is such a great classical example of goth rock. Vocalist Kara Hill has a beautifully dark, reverberating voice that carries such a sense of despair into the brooding riffs that comprise In Winter’s music. This band is a prime example of a band that has complete mastery of emotional content within their music.

This cd contains three finished demos, including the two songs that had long been available for streaming on the band’s website, as well as a fourth acoustic song available only on this demo.

The entire demo was well put together and packaged, which is always a plus for bands attempting to shop their music to labels, and for other promotional means. The recordings were professional, and the artwork well done. All four songs are great examples of this band’s work, and prompted my immediate expectations for the coming release of Murmur, In Winter’s full-length release.

Suggested Tracks:
“Bitter Season”
“June”
“Butterflies (acoustic)”
