Radio Active Founder, Valdyr

RyonVALDYR
Founder & CEO

Radio-Active-Music.com was founded by Valdyr - a name that anyone immersed in this side of the industry may be familiar with. While her start in the entertainment business came through theatre technology and design, she has broadened her range to include a wide variety of artist support, including, of course, music promotion.

As fate would have it, she landed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during college in becoming an intern for D1 Music Network, an independent record company founded by Jay Gordon of Orgy. During her time there (and she still helps with D1 to this day) she gained experience in online DJ'ing, band webdesign, A&R, and eventually went on to be the editor for the journalism staff. While working for D1, she was introduced to Fluffy Starr, and had the opportunity to design and maintain her website for three years. As time went on, Valdyr has had the opportunity to design for other bands such as Dead Sexy, Redrum, Lani, and Alienhead.

But her interest in band promotion didn't end with web design. The excitement she had gained in working for D1 had expanded to a point where she felt the need to take indie band promotion to the next level for electro/industrial bands. And so Radio-Active-Music.com was born as networking & promotions site to provide a way to help bands in this area of music get ahead.

Over the years, Valdyr gained experience by serving as the online promotions coordinator for Electricult Records - an indie label in Australia (with distribution through MGM) founded by Manek of Dead Inside The Chrysalis. She is also stepped up as the street team coordinator and promotions head for Strangeland Records - a new indie record store in the Washington, DC metro that specifically catered to electronic, industrial, metal, and punk music. Valdyr also worked as the associate promoter / live acts coordinator for Midnight - one of DC's hottest (and friendliest) goth/industrial clubs - for over two years.

Today, Valdyr maintains Radio-Active-Music.com as her fulltime job, but still keeps her hands dirty in technical theatre and corporate A/V in the DC metro area.

Submission Guidelines

For any artists interested in having their projects added to the site, there are a few simple guidelines that will make the submission process easier. Please make sure your music meets the following qualifications:

  1. The music must be in the glam/goth/industrial/synth rock (or extremely related genres.)
  2. Your music and your "public appearance" (your website, your photos, etc.) must be of acceptable professional quality.
  3. You and your band must handle yourselves in a professional and supportive manner towards other members of the music community.

Now, for the explanation and exceptions to these first two rules. In regards to genre, we have personally chosen to work with a very specific range of musical styles. We find that by focusing down we can acheive better results in targeted marketing and promotion. We also believe that by maintaining a personal interest and enthusiasm for your music makes us more effective supporters!

In regards to public appearance, we ask that bands understand that we are looking for musicians that have reached a recognizable professional level in their work. While we do help bands at all levels of growth and development, we feel it is vital to maintain the integrity of our site. It's our promise to our artists that they will only be featured with bands that are of the same quality, and to our fans to provide the best music possible. The site will include a handful of bands who are at a more infant level, but that is because we have personally decided that they have shown promise and we are offering them a chance to grow in a supporting environment.

Finally - support. One of the main goals of this site is to create a strong and supportive community where bands can flourish and grow. Any band that is seen to be hurtful towards fans or other bands will immediately be denied or expelled from our site.

With all of that being said, if you feel like you're ready for inclusion on the Radio-Active-Music.com site, please contact Valdyr for more information.

NOTE: A change in reply policy: Over the last few years, Radio-Active-Music.com has made a real effort to respond personally to every inquiry. As the site is expanding, we no longer can guarantee a response. If we are interested in your project, you will hear from us within a month of receiving your submission. Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to hearing from you!
